“No. You don’t need to come.”

He didn’t know exactly what that chick drone Mephisto-whatever had done, but the boss—now saddled with all kinds of debuffs opposite to the buffs on himself—was clearly not normal.

The mounted knight shook his head, weaving from side to side.

Confused by its rider’s odd behavior, the horse backed away nervously, hooves clattering in retreat.

    ‘This is seriously amazing.’

[Activating skill ‘Path of Shimmering Waters (AA)’.]

His sword was imbued with the energy of water. Swelling torrents swirled explosively around the blade.

Lee Taemin felt overwhelmed by the power pouring from both hands.

It felt as if a tidal wave was poised to devour everything in its path.

    ‘I don’t think I’ll lose.’

With that thought, Taemin charged straight at the Ether Knight.

The wild surge from Taemin’s twin swords lashed out like razor-sharp claws of a beast.

The wave crashed down on the Ether Knight, and in a furious maelstrom, the boss was ripped to shreds.

Taemin landed lightly and withdrew his skill.

    Fsssk—

In that fleeting instant, he glimpsed a path leading to victory.

A tingling exhilaration surged through his body. Lee Taemin pressed his tongue against his teeth and spoke.

    “Ether Knight, down.”

[‘Team Korea’ has defeated phase one’s ‘Ether Knight (Right)’.]

[‘Team Korea’ advances to phase two.]

    • Waaaaaaah!!

The roaring cheers of the frenzied crowd exploded from the screen. The vast stadium field rang with their shouts.

The camera hurriedly panned to Gru, still seated at the starting point.

Gru flashed a peace sign, beaming, cheeks bulging as she slurped her Pororo drink.

    “Seventeen minutes and three seconds!”

“Seventeen-oh-three!! It’s a new record for clearing phase one!”

The commentary team cheered, banging on the table in excitement, enthusiastic exclamations rolling out one after another.

“No one saw this play coming.”

“The individual skills of the players made it possible. In particular, Hunter Lee Taemin’s performance is astounding today. He’s truly on fire!”

“Yes, exactly. Lee Taemin isn’t falling behind Gidan or Sergey at all—he’s delivering above and beyond the work of a single player.”

Just then, a highlight reel began to play.

High-spirited, the commentators lavished praise on the players with unrestrained passion.

“Cut! Hunter Lee Taemin still looks electrified. Now the camera is on Hunter Gru. Our adorable little competitor is pulling something out of her bag! What could it be? Candy!”

“She’s adorable. Hunter On Gru looks totally relaxed.”

“To be so unruffled under these circumstances—some might call that a talent of its own. She takes after her father, Hunter On Joorim, with her composure.”

“Ah, be careful with that comment. Gru’s fans hate hearing that sort of thing.”

“Oh. Really? My apologies. Let me take this opportunity to apologize to her fans.”

“Ha! Let’s hope the apology is accepted. And just now, the German team is scrambling to take down the Ether Knight and move to phase two. Our team is already stacking phase two buffs.”

“As the phases progress, the buff options only get better. Team Korea’s pace is strong.”

“And here, the German team advances to phase two as well.”

“Oh, look—Team Korea is moving. They’re really going for it. With Germany in hot pursuit, I think they intend to take down the phase two boss immediately. Is this really safe?”

“Personally, I’m a little concerned. This isn’t something that can be done on individual skill alone. But now that Gidan and Sergey are moving together after entering phase two, and Lee Taemin is stacking buffs in the center, it looks entirely possible.”

“Agreed. Look, the drone just drew the boss in with aggro!”

[‘Team Korea’ has defeated phase two’s ‘Cursed Paladin Urbeki (Right)’.]

“Cut! An unbelievable play lands the first boss kill!”

“Team Korea takes the first phase two boss! They’re doing the impossible! Our rookies have physical ability that exceeds all expectations. What a display of potential and prowess!”

“Pure DPS stomp—just flattening everything with raw damage!”

[‘Team Germany’ has defeated phase two’s ‘Cursed Paladin Urbeki (Left)’.]

“Wow—Germany and Korea are neck and neck in an intense showdown. With such incredible teamwork and natural talent, whose side will the goddess of victory favor? The suspense is relentless in this match!”

“But looking closely… does Lee Taemin from Team Korea have a personal buff?”

“Excuse me? Aren’t they running an all-damage comp right now?”

“Well… I think it’s the drone. Every time the drone moves in and out, Taemin receives a buff, and the boss gets a debuff. That sort of exchange.”

“So it’s not the usual kind of drone?”

“No. We’ll need to contact the coaching zone for clarification. Please stand by.”

Gru, rolling a round candy around in her mouth, hummed to herself as she manipulated her pink tablet.

    Bling-bling-bling—

On the tablet, a pixelated chick hero and companions fought monsters like in a retro game.

    ‘Let’s go!’

Gru pressed a button that looked like a skill from a game UI.

[Party member ‘Lee Taemin’ receives a buff.]

Inside the tablet, her companion character raised both arms in a power pose.

    Mephisto Series mk.3 Support Type.

This was a new version, integrating a game interface into Gru’s tablet for direct control.

Everyone said Korea’s chronic issue was a lack of a support line.

So, if there’s not enough support?

    ‘Then just make one!’

That was the thinking behind its creation.

‘I’m glad it came out even better than I expected.’

Smiling in satisfaction, Gru propped her chin on her arms at the table, then glanced at the upper right of her tablet, where the drone’s data was displayed.

    [Mephisto Series mk.3 (Grade: Undetermined)]

    [Assessing grade……]

    ‘This is taking a while…’

It seemed the process was slow because she’d packed the drone with diverse features, including buff options.

Maybe it wouldn’t even be rated until she used ‘that.’

She’d been told to report the results to the coaching zone as soon as grading was complete.

    “Hmmm…”

Just as Gru was wondering if she needed to use ‘that’ for the grade assessment—

[‘Team Germany’ has defeated phase two’s ‘Wolf Butcher (Left)’.]

[‘Team Germany’ advances to phase three.]

[‘Team Korea’ has defeated phase two’s ‘Wolf Butcher (Right)’.]

[‘Team Korea’ advances to phase three.]

Phase two ended with Germany barely pulling ahead.

Then Gidan’s voice came through the earpiece.

[Gidan: Gru, Gru, are you ready?]

    “Hm? Already?”

[Gidan: Yeah. Germany’s pace is faster than I thought. Taemin, join us over here.]

[Lee Taemin: Huh? Right now? What are you planning?]

    [Gidan: Something fun!]
