Magic Farm 128
by CristaeChapter 128: Playing Together with a Good Friend (Daily Life)
Dan Xingyu couldn’t even explain himself why he was so shocked when he heard those words.
Because, thinking it over afterward, he realized: inviting a good friend over to your house to play and even stay the night—wasn’t that perfectly normal?
Now his home was so big, it wasn’t as if there wasn’t enough space to sleep!
Once he thought it through, he immediately invited him with enthusiasm: “Of course, no problem!”
Qi Yu responded in kind, “You can sleep in my treehouse, too.”
His treehouse, though spacious, had only one bedroom and one large bed.
But Qi Yu didn’t see that as a problem—he’d slept in all sorts of places before. There were plenty of solutions.
He could craft another wooden bed at the workbench.
Or he could let Dan Xingyu have the bedroom and go cultivate under the Tree of Life himself for the night.
Speaking of cultivation, they could even cultivate together?
He wondered if the Tree of Life would benefit a martial artist’s training.
A whole string of ideas popped into his head.
Dan Xingyu: “Sure, sounds great.”
But all that was for after dark.
Qi Yu led Dan Xingyu over to the lounge chair by the little lake.
“This is the blue resource point I showed you last time.”
He offered the lounge chair to Dan Xingyu. “Today’s resource point hasn’t been opened yet. If you sit on the lounge chair, blue-quality fish catches will appear in the bucket.”
Dan Xingyu’s eyes lit up. “This place is amazing!”
He lay down expectantly.
After a few seconds—
There was a splashing sound from the bucket.
“Did it come, did it come? What did I get?” Dan Xingyu craned his neck to look.
Qi Yu also leaned over, only to find that, instead of some expected item, there was a blue bubble in the bucket.
He chose to pick it up.
The blue bubble appeared in his inventory and revealed its true form.
[Obtained blue-quality fish catch: Phantom Sea Ruby King Crab x1.]
Qi Yu took the Ruby King Crab out of his inventory.
“Wow!” Both of them exclaimed in unison.
Qi Yu immediately understood why it hadn’t appeared directly in the bucket, but as a blue bubble.
The Ruby King Crab on the grass was half as tall as a person, its shell gleaming with a crystal red luster—surely the name “ruby” came from this.
[Ruby King Crab: A specialty delicacy of Phantom Sea, expensive and delicious.]
Qi Yu read the description to Dan Xingyu, emphasizing that it was very tasty.
“Is this a king crab?” Dan Xingyu looked at the giant crab waving its claws, uncertain if it wanted to attack or flee, and urged, “Quick, put it away, put it away!”
Qi Yu’s storage backpack couldn’t hold living creatures, but perhaps items from resource points were an exception: when he tried to store it, the Ruby King Crab turned back into a little figurine sealed in a blue bubble.
“Let’s have this for lunch today,” Qi Yu said, looking at Dan Xingyu with anticipation.
Dan Xingyu: “No problem.”
He said, “I’ve never eaten this before either—it’s too expensive.”
“And the king crabs I’ve seen were nowhere near this big or this beautiful.”
With that size and those sharp pincers, on Blue Star it would probably be classified as a dangerous animal.
Qi Yu: “I haven’t had it either. Perfect—we can try it together.”
He let Dan Xingyu try fishing: “You can fish with the rod—just cast the hook into the water.”
Dan Xingyu: “That really sounds like some kind of casual mini-game. Let me try. Where’s the bait?”
Qi Yu: ?
“What bait?”
Dan Xingyu: ?
He saw the genuine confusion on Qi Yu’s face and understood: “So you mean, when you fish, you just throw the hook in and that’s it?”
“Isn’t that how it works?”
Dan Xingyu was convinced by his matter-of-fact tone. “Maybe I’m overthinking it—forgot this is Survival Game.”
He cast the hook into the lake.
He waited a long time.
Nothing happened.
Five minutes later, his survival panel gave a prompt:
[Please put bait on your hook.]
Dan Xingyu: “…”
He looked silently at Qi Yu.
Qi Yu was stunned.
He didn’t make Dan Xingyu get up, just took the rod himself, sat on the grass, and cast the line.
In less than two minutes, the line jerked tight.
Now it was his turn to look silently at Dan Xingyu.
“Wow! Survival Game! You’re really this blatant with your double standards!”
Dan Xingyu got off the lounge chair and sat beside Qi Yu. “Pull it up, let me see what you get.”
[Obtained a jar of sour strawberry jam.]
Dan Xingyu held the jar, turning it over and over, unable to figure out how such a smooth little thing could possibly be hooked by a fishhook.
Unconvinced, he took the rod and cast again.
This time, he didn’t wait five minutes.
[Please put bait on your hook.]
Such obvious double standards.
Dan Xingyu couldn’t help but laugh in exasperation.
Qi Yu was about to tell him not to get upset, when he saw Dan Xingyu produce a small piece of beast meat.
Dan Xingyu hooked the meat, cast again. “Fine! Bait it is. Today I’m determined to catch something!”
Qi Yu: Looks like he’s not mad.
That’s fine, then.
He thought for a moment, opened the territory module, and moved the big snack cabinet from his bedroom over, placing it nearby.
Dan Xingyu turned around and saw all the delicious food. He simply pulled Qi Yu up, then took out a huge blanket from his backpack and spread it on the grass.
He grabbed some snacks from the cabinet, added some from his own bag, and piled the little blanket high with treats.
“OK! Picnic achievement unlocked!”
“Picnic?”
Dan Xingyu: “It’s a tradition from… my hometown. When the weather’s nice, people go out with family or good friends. We prepare lots of good food in advance, find a scenic spot outdoors, and spread out a picnic mat like this—enjoying the scenery and the food.”
“Honestly, your grass is so clean and pretty, the blanket’s not even necessary,” Dan Xingyu said. “But for the sense of ritual, we’ve got to do it all!”
Qi Yu listened, full of envy. “Your hometown sounds like it has so many interesting traditions. I’ve never seen any of these.”
Dan Xingyu was now able to cover up his slips without missing a beat. He smiled and said, “It’s fine. Now you’ve seen it. If all goes well, we’ll live for a long, long time. Everything we missed or never experienced, we can take our time with.”
Qi Yu thought that made sense and nodded contentedly. “You’re right.”
As they spoke, the fishing rod twitched.
Dan Xingyu immediately held his breath and carefully reeled it in.
Qi Yu, sitting beside him, had no idea why he was being so cautious. “Why don’t you just pull it up?”
Oh, right—there might not even be fish down there.
Dan Xingyu gave a sharp tug and hauled up whatever was underneath.
[Obtained half a rotten wooden table.]
“…”
Dan Xingyu stared gravely at the lake, then at the rotten table.
Qi Yu was about to comfort him, when Dan Xingyu cheered loudly, “This is so much fun! Is this the joy of fishing?”
He eagerly took another piece of beast meat, baited the hook, and cast again.
Qi Yu also thought fishing was fun, though he usually only did it a few times before moving on. He hadn’t expected Dan Xingyu to enjoy it so much.
So, for the entire morning, Dan Xingyu enthusiastically opened blind boxes, while Qi Yu sat beside him, snacking and keeping him company.
By noon, their haul included: half a rotten wooden table, two bundles of wet seaweed, two wooden treasure chests, one sapphire ring, one damaged treasure map, a woman’s slipper, and a beautiful golden goblet.
“I think I’m getting a little addicted,” Dan Xingyu realized belatedly.
He looked at Qi Yu, a bit embarrassed. “I made you sit here with me for so long—wasn’t it boring?”
Qi Yu shook his head. “You’re the guest. As long as you’re having fun, it’s fine. And I’m not bored.”
Sometimes, doing nothing—just sitting, resting, enjoying the scenery, watching Dan Xingyu fish, and eating good food—was very pleasant.
Dan Xingyu stood up. “You have a kitchen, right? Let’s go deal with that big guy for lunch.”
“I do,” Qi Yu said. “My kitchen is spacious and bright, and has everything.”
He just hadn’t used it—after realizing that cooking wasn’t just about making things edible, but required real skill, he’d given up.
After reading the description of the Ruby King Crab, Dan Xingyu decided: with such top-quality, delicious ingredients, there was no need for complicated cooking.
They had crab roe steamed egg, Ruby King Crab sashimi, and each had a giant steamed crab leg.
The Ruby King Crab was truly enormous.
Even after their bodies had been enhanced, giving them both huge appetites, they still couldn’t finish even a third of the crab.
Dan Xingyu leaned back in his chair. “If someone had told me a month ago that I’d one day eat so much king crab I’d be stuffed and sick of it, I’d have laughed and called them a dreamer.”
He paused. “But getting dragged into Survival Game… that’s even less realistic than a dream.”
Thinking that, he suddenly started to laugh.
After cleaning up the kitchen together, Qi Yu took him to the farmland area.
Dan Xingyu looked at the Bright Sunflowers, Screaming Lilies of the Valley, Grumpy Tomatoes, Wind Blade Grass, Devil’s Vines… his expression grew a little complicated.
“You really do have a land of talent here—no, a land of plant talent. It reminds me of a super popular game from my hometown.”
Qi Yu: “What game?”
“I guess you wouldn’t know it, since it’s kind of niche.” Dan Xingyu lied with a straight face. “Plants vs. Zombies—never heard of it, right?”
Sure enough, Qi Yu shook his head.
He’d never played Plants vs. Zombies, but he had seen mutant plants fighting zombies with his own eyes.
The Golden Apple Sapling and Seven-Colored Flower, Dan Xingyu only glanced at from afar—he could tell how precious they were. As a total outsider to magical plants, he decided not to get too close to such rare and delicate specimens.
Next was the Tree of Life, which he’d been extremely curious about.
But when he finally saw the Tree of Life up close, Dan Xingyu was a bit disappointed: it looked too ordinary, no different from any tree you’d see by the roadside. It didn’t have any of the extraordinary qualities he’d imagined.
But when he stood beneath it—
Dan Xingyu: Okay, I admit I was a bit too loud just now!
He couldn’t sense the dense magical elements Qi Yu had described, but the rich, abundant life energy ceaselessly flowed into his body, nourishing every cell.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, forcing himself to leave the Tree of Life’s range.
“It feels so good—I’m afraid if I stay any longer, I won’t want to leave.”
Qi Yu felt the same. “I know. When I first got it, I spent a whole night cultivating under the tree. It was really comfortable.”
He offered generously, “Anyway, there’s a teleportation portal—come by anytime you want, just sit for a while. After a few days, you’ll get used to it.”
