Chapter 159: Didi Cursing Service

Before today, My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s would never have thought this was a big deal.

He had always believed himself to be the chosen one of Zone 01. In the entire zone, there were only a handful of top-ranked players who were even worth his attention.

Being ostracized by a bunch of nobodies—did it matter?

Now, cold reality told him that it mattered quite a lot.

At this moment, he felt humiliated in his heart, and his body was suffering too.

But he still had to pretend not to care, posting in the group chat.

[My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s: I’m offering real money—starting at one epic piece of equipment, price is absolutely negotiable.]

No one in the regional channel responded, but he wasn’t anxious.

A truly smart person would never reveal in the regional channel that they had extra teleportation scrolls, but someone would surely contact him privately.

He waited for half an hour.

At first, he was fairly confident, checking his messages and friend requests every couple of minutes to see if there was any news.

After a while, the frequency increased to about once a minute.

Then, he simply stayed on those two pages, refreshing back and forth.

Soon after, the bandits came for him again.

Why had no one contacted him yet!

    Baffled, he took another beating.

Because the items he produced didn’t satisfy them.

My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s stuck to his claim that he could only take out one item per hour.

This time, the person who came to collect didn’t push him, just smiled coldly and said, “Next time you try to fob us off with this trash, I’ll take your hand.”

The knife tip traced slowly down from his shoulder, a line of blood trickling down with a stinging pain.

My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s face went pale: he knew those people never believed him, but they couldn’t find his survival backpack either.

So they kept him locked up, slowly “shearing the sheep.”

Once he really had nothing valuable left, his life would be forfeit.

Compared to these truly ruthless bandits, the disasters in the survival game were almost gentle.

Next hour, he’d have to come up with something good—what about the hour after that?

Now, he didn’t dare act reserved anymore, nor pretend.

[My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s: To be honest, everyone, I’m currently outside, and I’ve been captured. I need a teleportation scroll to save my life.]

[My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s: I’m willing to share my exploration experience for free—I’m sure everyone’s interested. Also, I really am willing to pay a high price for a teleportation scroll.]

Even if some player ripped him off, he’d accept it.

Being ripped off once was better than being bled dry for a dozen more rounds, all while being beaten.

He thought he’d been honest enough, humble enough, sincere enough.

Surely someone would respond to him now?

    Someone did respond:

[I’m So Overbearing: Oh hey, isn’t this My Fate bigshot? Haven’t seen you in a few days and you’ve fallen this far?]

[Little Old Me: Impossible, must be fake. How could My Fate bigshot, so powerful, get caught? You must be trying to scam a teleportation scroll.]

Qi Yu hadn’t been watching the regional channel, but was urgently summoned by the small group—there was drama to see.

As soon as he entered, he saw these three former “good friends” tearing into each other like dogs fighting over a bone.

The Zone 01 squad burst out laughing.

Qi Yu didn’t know what to say: neither I’m So Overbearing nor Little Old Me were good people, but seeing them fall out and still hate each other enough to pile on at a time like this—My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s really had some skills.

Still, he wasn’t much interested in this kind of spectacle.

After seeing the powerhouse crowd in Ophelia Royal City, how could he care about someone like My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s?

But sometimes, no matter how much you want to avoid bad luck, it still finds you.

After the three finished their spat in the regional channel, My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s directly @-ed Qi Yu.

Because right now, the only person My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s was sure had a teleportation scroll was “I Love Survival Games.”

In his mind, I Love Survival Games had explored so many times—he must have a ton of teleportation scrolls.

He could even inscribe temperature-regulating magic arrays, so maybe he could make teleportation scrolls too.

[My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s: @I Love Survival Games, sell me a teleportation scroll. I’ll apologize to you, and let you rip me off. We can write off all our past grudges—how about it?]

    Qi Yu: ?

    He really didn’t understand.

What kind of mindset did you need to say something like that?

Just then, his communication orb lit up.

Normally, unless it was important, Shen Benwuxiang wouldn’t disturb him at night.

Qi Yu answered, “Dan Xingyu, what’s up?”

“Nothing much, I just wanted to chat with you for a bit—is this a good time?”

    It didn’t seem inconvenient.

    Qi Yu said, “Go ahead.”

Dan Xingyu had guessed it would be this response and smiled.

He asked, “What are you doing right now?”

Qi Yu said, “Chatting with someone, haven’t decided how to reply yet.”

Dan Xingyu immediately pricked up his ears.

At this hour? Still chatting? Who?

“Who is it?” He tried to sound casual, but in reality, even if he didn’t, the clueless little local wouldn’t notice. “A friend?”

“No, actually the opposite—it’s an enemy,” Qi Yu said.

Dan Xingyu sat up straighter. “Enemy? What happened?”

The little local actually had an enemy?

Qi Yu opened his mouth, but there was so much to explain, and the timeline was so long, he didn’t know where to start. He said gloomily, “Do I have to tell the whole story? There’s a lot.”

That only made Dan Xingyu more interested.

He simply said, “Wait for me a second.”

Qi Yu guessed what was coming, and sure enough, the next moment he received a request to enter his territory.

Compared to earlier, Dan Xingyu had changed clothes. He was wearing what looked like pajamas, very loose and comfortable, his hair still damp as if he’d just showered.

By contrast, the little mage in his robe, ready for cultivation, looked much more serious.

Seeing Dan Xingyu like this, Qi Yu glanced at the big tree behind him—maybe it wasn’t the best place to sit.

Dan Xingyu looked at him in surprise too. “Why are you dressed like that so late at night?”

Qi Yu admitted frankly to being a workaholic: “I was planning to cultivate under the Life Tree in a bit.”

Dan Xingyu immediately stood at attention.

Qi Yu led him to the treehouse, straight to the bedroom, with a bit of pride in his home: “I have a clean carpet here, it’s really comfortable to sit on.”

He moved the snack cabinet over as well. Not hearing any movement from Dan Xingyu, he looked up and found him surveying the bedroom, for some reason his ears a bit red.

    Qi Yu: ?

    How odd.

    He sat down cross-legged.

Dan Xingyu came back to himself. “What’s the story with you and your enemy?”

He was puzzled. “With your personality, how did you even manage to make an enemy?”

He blurted out, “The other guy must be a real piece of work.”

This completely biased, unreasonable support inexplicably lifted Qi Yu’s mood. The bad luck from My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s seemed to dissipate.

He thought for a moment, then summarized the story as briefly as possible.

Dan Xingyu listened intently. “So, basically, he lost to you, couldn’t handle it, developed a one-sided grudge, and out of jealousy used items that got a lot of people killed—a lowlife murderer?”

“And he tried to kill you.”

    Qi Yu: “Mm.”

Dan Xingyu: “And now he’s out exploring, and got captured by natives?”

    Qi Yu: “Yes.”

“And he still has the nerve to ask you for a teleportation scroll?”

Qi Yu also found it baffling. “I don’t know why he’s asking me.”

Did he look like an idiot?

    He opened the survival panel.

Maybe because Qi Yu had been busy entertaining a friend and hadn’t responded, My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s was losing it again.

[My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s: @I Love Survival Games, don’t pretend you can’t see me. I’m willing to pay a high price.]

[My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s: Game boss, have a little mercy. I’ve got plenty of good stuff.]

[My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s: @I Love Survival Games, just going to play dead, huh? Are you happy to see me down? Hoping I don’t make it back, one less competitor?]

[My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s: @I Love Survival Games, listen, if I can’t get a teleportation scroll and die here, you’ll be a murderer, you know that?]

Qi Yu’s distraction was obvious. Dan Xingyu asked, “Are you reading messages?”

Qi Yu: “My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s is talking.”

Dan Xingyu didn’t even need to look to imagine the kind of filth that would come out of that guy’s mouth.

The survival game didn’t allow duels, and the little local’s mouth was at too much of a disadvantage.

A faint breeze swept by. Qi Yu turned, raised his hand, and caught a packaged plum tossed his way.

Dan Xingyu raised an eyebrow at him. “Want to order a Didi cursing service, Lord?”

He picked out a glutinous rice cake from the cabinet, eyeing it carefully. “Service fee—just this, how about it?”

Qi Yu looked at him, puzzled.

Dan Xingyu leaned in, very close.

Maybe because he was a martial artist, or because he lived in the scorching Golden Sand Desert, his body temperature was always much higher than Qi Yu’s. Whenever they were close, Qi Yu could feel that heat through their clothes, invading without restraint.

Even the air seemed to grow hotter.

“Now, read his messages to me.”

    .

    Zone 01 Regional Channel:

    [I Love Survival Games: .]

A dazzling special effect flashed by.

A swarm of lurkers and bystanders exploded into the chat.

[Cockroach Tastes Weird: Game boss, still up this late? Kids need plenty of sleep to grow up healthy.]

[Grind King: That’s right, some weird humanoid creatures aren’t even worth the time to respond to.]

My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s watched as the regional channel, which had just ignored him completely, exploded into activity the moment I Love Survival Games showed up—he was even angrier.

He was about to reply when a long string of flashy messages appeared one after another.

[I Love Survival Games: Sorry, just got back from the Golden Sand Desert. I’m quite pleased to see your message so late. @My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s]

[I Love Survival Games: I’m truly delighted that such misfortune has befallen you. It’s a real shame you’re not dead yet.]

[I Love Survival Games: What did my teleportation scroll ever do to deserve being wasted on trash like you?]

With this triple salvo of insults, not only was My Fate Is Mine, Not Heaven’s stunned, the entire regional channel was stunned.

    [Grind King: ???]

    [Old Civil Engineer: ???]

[Reaching for the Moon in the Ninth Heaven: ???]

[Cockroach Tastes Weird: Game boss, were you hacked?]
