Chapter 155: Welcome to the Golden Sand Desert, Game Pro

Qi Yu had watched God Has No Form use the portal to visit many times, but this was his first time using it himself.

As he approached the portal, a gentle resistance stopped him.

The survival panel popped up a prompt:

[Apply to enter the other’s territory?]

    Qi Yu chose to apply.

The resistance quickly vanished. He guessed that God Has No Form had approved his entry request.

It was just a simple step forward.

The scene before his eyes changed instantly.

No flowers, no forests—the Golden Sand Desert stretched out in an open, unobstructed view. There was nothing to block the sightline; it felt as if you could see the edge of the world in a single glance.

From where Qi Yu stood, he could easily see out into the distance—endless golden waves of sand, glimmering like scattered gold under the sunlight.

Truly worthy of the name Golden Sand Desert.

At the same time, Qi Yu instantly understood why Dan Xingyu had said the heat killed his appetite: even with a thermostatic magic array, compared to the Star Forest, the air here was astonishingly dry.

God Has No Form stood right beside him.

    “Good morning, Dan Xingyu.”

Dan Xingyu looked him up and down, eyes wide: “You look so fresh today, Qi Yu-ge, are you really older than me?”

So dewy and vibrant, completely out of place in the Golden Sand Desert.

Looking at him, Dan Xingyu thought, Survival Game isn’t all bad—at least it picks the right people.

I Love Survival Game—just one look and you’d know he belonged to the Star Forest.

Qi Yu replied, “Really, I’m already nineteen.”

He lifted the oversized basket in his hands. “I brought you a gift!”

“It’s a bit cold, so be careful.” He was using ice magic to keep the lotus-shaped ice flower at the bottom from melting.

Dan Xingyu carefully took it, glanced inside: “Wow!”

He was clearly delighted with the gift. “Would you believe, the treasures in this basket would sell for a hundred gold coins in District 88, and people would still line up to buy them.”

Without waiting for Qi Yu to answer, he added, “But forget a hundred gold coins—even for a thousand, I wouldn’t sell.”

He led Qi Yu inside, asking as they went, “Have you had breakfast?”

    Qi Yu shook his head.

As his gaze returned from the outside, Qi Yu realized he was standing on a huge open-air terrace.

Going further in, they pushed open two thick, ornate doors—inside was a bedroom.

Qi Yu was surprised. “You set the portal in your bedroom?”

Strictly speaking, the terrace wasn’t part of the bedroom, since there was a door between them.

But this enormous open-air terrace’s only passage to the outside was through the bedroom door.

Which meant, whenever Qi Yu came to visit, after stepping through the portal, he’d have to pass through Dan Xingyu’s bedroom no matter where he wanted to go.

Dan Xingyu explained, “Because this is the best spot in the whole palace—the best view, the best scenery. I told you, you have to stay until afternoon. When the sun moves over here, that’s when you’ll see the real Golden Sand Desert.”

“That sounds beautiful,” Qi Yu said, imagining it. “Honestly, it already looks amazing now.”

It was a landscape completely different from the Star Forest.

“Your bedroom is huge.” Qi Yu’s gaze swept over the massive room.

He’d thought his own room was large, but compared to Dan Xingyu’s, it was nothing.

The most eye-catching feature was the giant bed in the center—Qi Yu estimated it could easily sleep five or six people.

The overall style was lavish, with thick, long-pile carpets covering the floor.

Qi Yu paused in his steps, but Dan Xingyu just pulled him onto the carpet.

Feeling his shoes sink in, Qi Yu asked, genuinely puzzled, “Dan Xingyu, don’t you think it looks really hot?”

“Don’t mention it.” Dan Xingyu pulled a pained face. “I want to tear it up too. But this carpet came with the shelter upgrade—I can’t remove it.”

    It really did look hot.

If it were just one room, it wouldn’t matter—he didn’t have to sleep in the master bedroom. But every room in the palace had the same setup.

    Still, it had its advantages.

“Since it came with the upgrade, it has a self-cleaning function. If not for that, I’d have found a way to get rid of them no matter what.”

As they talked, they finally left the bedroom.

They passed through winding corridors and reached the dining room.

Dan Xingyu set the basket in the center of the table and asked, “Do you mind if people know you came to the Golden Sand Desert today? And can I show off the gift you gave me?”

    Qi Yu shook his head.

Visiting a friend—what was there to hide?

With his approval, Dan Xingyu was satisfied.

Qi Yu thought, given Dan Xingyu’s personality, he’d be snapping photos and showing off everywhere.

But he only asked, “Will it melt if I leave it like this?”

Qi Yu replied, “I’m keeping it cold with magic. It won’t melt.”

    “Good.”

Dan Xingyu said, “So, honored guest, what would you like for breakfast? You can order anything here.”

He even bowed, playing the part of a gentleman butler: “Today, your exclusive butler Dan Xingyu is at your service.”

Qi Yu, a country bumpkin from the apocalypse, had never seen anything like this. He stared at Dan Xingyu in fascination.

He decided to play along. “I want dumplings.”

The word “dumplings” had been circling in his mind all day yesterday.

It made him hungry for no reason.

Dan Xingyu thought for a moment. “If you want them fresh, breakfast might be too late. But I got two boxes of dumplings from a recent food mystery box—do you mind eating frozen ones?”

    Qi Yu shook his head.

    He could eat anything.

Besides, nothing from the Survival Game ever tasted bad!

And so, for Qi Yu’s first meal as a guest in Dan Xingyu’s territory, the two of them sat at a banquet table big enough for dozens, each with a box of frozen dumplings, eating with gusto.

    After eating their fill—

It was time for the main event!

Dan Xingyu circled the basket, taking photos from every angle and posting them all in the District 88 regional channel.

The survival panel could take pictures, but didn’t have a save function.

He even @’d everyone in the group chat.

[God Has No Form: Go check the regional channel for photos.]

    [Retreating: ???]

[God Has No Form: Too lazy to take them twice.]

Strawberries the size of fists, strings of beautiful cherries, piled high atop glistening ice flowers.

The basket itself was made from real plants—an absolute luxury in District 88. The petals and leaves looked as fresh as if they’d just been picked.

[No Phone, Hard to Endure: Damn! Are those strawberries real? Can I just get a taste? Just one bite!]

[Retreating: Second God, you’re eating this well?]

[God Has No Form: Sharing something happy—your game pro came to visit the Golden Sand Desert today. This is the gift he brought me.]

[God Has No Form: He’s way too thoughtful. I told him not to go to any trouble, but he insisted on getting up early to pick the freshest strawberries and cherries. He even used magic to keep the ice perfectly cold, so I could have the best taste.]

[God Has No Form: And those desserts in the middle—you might not know, but they’re his favorites. He never wanted to eat them, but brought them over to share with me.]

[God Has No Form: Such a precious gesture—I can only let you look.]

    “……”

District 88’s regional channel fell silent, everyone quietly watching his performance.

    After a long while—

[No Phone, Hard to Endure: You! …Never mind, it’s Second God. He! …Never mind, it’s Second God. This guy! …Never mind, it’s Second God.]

[Eternal Night: Someone comes over, brings a gift, and you really play it up, huh?]

[God Has No Form: Hey, there aren’t even any lemon slices in here—so why do I smell something sour?]

[Retreating: Second God, is the game pro with you now? If so, please pass along my endless admiration for him. Welcome to the Golden Sand Desert, game pro!]

With that, the District 88 players, who’d wanted to curse after being shown up by Dan Xingyu but couldn’t because they’d all benefited from him, became lively again.

[Jasmine Green Tea: Front row to confess my love for the game pro—wishing Second God and the game pro a friendship that lasts forever.]

[Long Days Ahead: Exactly! Second God, you and the game pro must stay close. Never let go of that thigh!]

[Low Battery: Welcome, game pro! Hope you have fun in the Golden Sand Desert.]

Even Eternal Night dropped the sour tone.

[Eternal Night: Welcome, game master. District 88’s players thank you for your help.]

Qi Yu couldn’t see Dan Xingyu’s game panel, so Dan Xingyu read all the comments out loud to him.

“These ungrateful brats have never been this enthusiastic for me,” he said with a laugh. “They’d probably kidnap you to District 88 and make you their number one if they could.”

    “Then thank them for me.”

“But I can’t move to District 88,” Qi Yu said seriously. “Star Forest is my home. I still like it best.”

Dan Xingyu was struck by how cute that was.

Everyone else was just joking, but the little local always took things seriously, earnestly saying the sweetest things.

Sometimes, he really wondered what kind of life could produce someone like Qi Yu.

After showing off and passing along District 88’s welcome, Dan Xingyu ruthlessly closed the survival panel, ignoring his “sons” wailing in the background.

Boys their age could eat a whole cow, especially since both Qi Yu and Dan Xingyu were professionals.

Having just finished breakfast, they happily devoured most of the fruit and desserts from the basket.

The feeling of being full of delicious food was so wonderful that Qi Yu almost forgot his real purpose.

Luckily, he had a good memory—he only almost forgot, but didn’t really.

He took out the Bow of Ideland from his backpack.

Dan Xingyu’s eyes lit up. “What a beautiful bow!”

Qi Yu didn’t bother to hide the equipment’s stats from him. In the next second, Dan Xingyu saw the bow’s level.

    [Semi-artifact.]

    Dan Xingyu: ???
