Magic Farm 189

Dawn broke.
Almost as soon as the clock struck eight, Qi Yu received a message from Dan Xingyu.
[God Has No Form: Lord, may I ask, do you still need to eat regular human food now?]
Qi Yu thought that he did.
As someone who truly loved good food—perhaps now he should say as an elf—he had, of course, asked Teacher Egnor this very question.
After all, the “nutritional supplements” prepared for him by the elves seemed rather limited in variety.
“Of course you can eat,” the elven teacher had told him. “Those are just to provide your body with energy. If you want to eat something delicious, eat as much as you like.”
If you didn’t care for food, then just drinking Linglong Jade Fruit Juice would be quite sufficient.
[I Love Survival Games: Dan Xingyu, do you want to come to my territory for a bit?]
He had posted photos in the 01 Survival Squad group that morning, but hadn’t sent them to Dan Xingyu—because Dan Xingyu could come see for himself.
Qi Yu felt that his territory was now beautiful, a different kind of beauty from a garden.
It was worth inviting a good friend over to take a look.
Half a minute later, he received a request to enter his territory.
As soon as Dan Xingyu arrived, he sensed something was different—he remembered that his previous teleportation point had been under a large tree.
But now, he saw a grand pillar carved with snowflake patterns.
He reacted almost instantly: “Is this your new territory appearance?”
“That’s right,” Qi Yu said happily. “Take a look—doesn’t it look beautiful?”
The two of them were clearly inside the castle now. Dan Xingyu gazed in awe at the magnificent architecture, completely convinced: “This territory appearance is way more interesting than anything in the games we used to play.”
On Blue Star, there were all kinds of games; an ice and snow castle wasn’t an uncommon design.
But in ordinary games, you could only admire your hard-earned or paid-for creations through a screen.
In the survival game, though, changing your territory’s appearance meant you could actually live in it, experience your own castle firsthand.
All at once, Dan Xingyu felt that five hundred event tokens was an absolute bargain, more than worth it.
It seemed that, while the survival game had borrowed ideas from the major game companies of Blue Star, when it came to pricing, it hadn’t yet mastered the art—they were still quite honest.
Qi Yu led him on a rough tour of the entire territory.
Having finished showing off his new territory appearance, Qi Yu brought up a second matter.
“Dan Xingyu, it turns out I really am an elf.”
Dan Xingyu wasn’t particularly surprised: “You confirmed it with your elven teacher?”
Qi Yu nodded. “Mm!”
Then he saw Dan Xingyu studying him with that peculiar, probing gaze again.
“So will your appearance change into that of an elf in the future?”
Qi Yu nodded. “Yes. The teacher said that I grew up in human form to protect myself in a dangerous environment, and because I was malnourished. Now my bloodline is awakening.”
“When my body’s energy is replenished, my appearance will also shift toward that of an elf.”
Dan Xingyu asked a question he cared about deeply: “Are you really… nineteen? I heard that a nineteen-year-old elf is still a child.”
Coincidentally, Qi Yu had asked that very question himself.
He told Dan Xingyu, “My case is a bit special. I grew up as a human and reached adult form. So my childhood corresponds to the years I spent as a human, and that’s already over. When my bloodline awakens, I’ll still be in my adult form.”
Dan Xingyu let out a breath of relief, but soon after, he felt a pang of sympathy.
Although he still didn’t know where the little native had lived before, one thing was certain: life had not been easy.
Judging by the way the elves in this world treated him, if he hadn’t ended up elsewhere by accident, he would surely have been a carefree little elf.
But he said nothing, only inviting Qi Yu, “Now that I’ve seen your territory, do you want to come with me to see my new territory?”
“Sure.”
They passed through the portal to the Golden Sand Desert, but what met their eyes was still the palace’s master bedroom balcony.
Qi Yu was puzzled. “Didn’t you say new territory?”
Dan Xingyu replied, “Yes, I’m about to redeem it now.”
“I don’t even know what the new event territory appearance looks like yet,” Dan Xingyu added. “Qi Yu, let’s witness it together.”
Qi Yu immediately grew expectant. “Okay.”
He couldn’t help but reflect—why hadn’t he thought to invite Dan Xingyu over when he was redeeming his own territory appearance?
Next time something comes up, he could bring him along. After all, they lived so close to each other.
Dan Xingyu finished redeeming the event-limited territory appearance and chose to switch. When he saw what it was, his eyebrows rose slightly, clearly surprised.
“Yu.”
Qi Yu’s eyes widened.
It was the same gust of wind—
Wherever the breeze passed, yellow sand turned to fertile soil, and on that soil, green grass and small trees began to grow…
In the blink of an eye, the desert—
He saw, not far away, a new “lake” had appeared.
And at the center of the territory, the towering golden palace had transformed into a lavishly decorated great tent.
Dan Xingyu told Qi Yu that this time, the Golden Sand Desert’s new appearance was called “Oasis.”
“Even knowing it’s all fake, this appearance is still a real treat for my eyes,” Dan Xingyu couldn’t help but squat down, reaching out to touch the tender new grass.
It felt soft and moist beneath his hand, indistinguishable from real grass.
He tried pinching off a small piece, but as soon as it touched his hand, it turned into white light and vanished.
Sure enough, no matter how realistic the appearance, it was still just an appearance. If the survival game really gave players a genuine oasis, then this event reward wouldn’t be called a “limited appearance”—it would have to be renamed “limited cheat.”
Still, even so, it was already deeply enticing.
Dan Xingyu posted several photos in the regional channel, and as expected, the eyes of all the players in District 88 turned green with envy.
At first, the practical-minded players had thought it better to grind for other rewards first—this appearance was the most expensive and not very useful, so they’d left it for last.
But now, seeing it—
Damn, when it comes to rewards, the survival game really delivers. The price is absolutely justified!
Well, what else is there to say? Grind! Gotta grind hard!
The oasis’s kitchen had also become an open-air kitchen, but the survival panel explained that while using this appearance, there would be no bad weather like rain inside the territory.
The two of them had breakfast together, and Qi Yu took out a bottle of Linglong Jade Fruit Juice.
He said, a little regretfully, “I asked the teacher about this—it’s specially made to suit elven physiology. Humans can’t drink it.”
Otherwise, he would have shared some with Dan Xingyu.
Upon hearing this, Dan Xingyu quickly waved his hands. “That’s a nutritional supplement made just for you—I don’t want it.”
If you counted by the little native’s “elven age,” this juice was basically “baby food.”
No matter what, he couldn’t possibly steal food from a child.
Qi Yu finished off the whole bottle of juice. To be honest, it had no real taste, and drinking it didn’t feel like much of anything.
From his memories, he knew that this had always been a long-term nutritional supplement for nurturing little elves’ bodies. The effect was extremely gentle for elves, made from the most complex ingredients, taking the longest time, all to achieve the best results.
He asked Dan Xingyu if he had exchanged for all the event items.
Dan Xingyu replied, “All except the watchtower, which isn’t limited in quantity—the rest are all done.”
He said enthusiastically, “Mage, do you want to try my golden flying carpet?”
This was the new flying item from the Golden Sand Desert’s event.
Dan Xingyu took it out.
Compared to the magic sleigh, it wasn’t as fast, nor was its appearance as flashy.
But the golden flying carpet had one big advantage over the magic sleigh: it wasn’t limited by terrain.
Anytime, as long as you used an energy crystal card, you could fly.
Anyway, he wasn’t in a hurry to spend the last of his ice-jewel diamonds, so Qi Yu said, “Sure!”
He told Dan Xingyu, “The watchtower should be the same type as our snowball launcher. It’s not really unlimited—after you buy four, it’ll tell you the limit is six.”
The golden flying carpet was especially large, gleaming all over, about four meters by four meters—plenty of room for two people, or even more.
It hovered quietly in front of them. Dan Xingyu pulled Qi Yu up onto it, and as he did, he was startled. “You’re so light!”
That brief pull—his hand had felt almost no weight at all.
Qi Yu nodded. “Yeah, I’m awakening my elven bloodline now. My weight might be about the same as a feather?”
No sooner had he spoken than Dan Xingyu leaned in. “Really? Can I try holding you?”
Qi Yu: “Go ahead.”
A pair of arms quickly wrapped around his waist, and Qi Yu was lifted from behind, jostled gently up and down.
“You really are,” Dan Xingyu let go, amazed. “Lord, are you sure a random gust of wind won’t just blow you away?”
Qi Yu: “…No, it won’t.”
“But if I want to be lazy, I can use the wind to move around,” he said, a little pleased. “I’m still not quite used to it, but an elf’s body is really fun.”
He was still getting used to it—everything was new.
The two of them sat cross-legged, and the golden flying carpet slowly rose into the air.
Although Qi Yu had said he wouldn’t be blown away by the wind, Dan Xingyu was clearly a bit nervous, keeping his eyes on Qi Yu the whole time, ready to grab him at a moment’s notice if the little elf happened to get swept away.
But Qi Yu sat steady as could be—his worry proved unfounded.
The golden flying carpet wasn’t terribly fast, but it was still much quicker than walking on foot.
Qi Yu used his mental power to help scout ahead, and before the morning was even half over, they had collected the last of the tokens and coins they needed.
He thought of something. “Dan Xingyu, have you ever run into any players from your region?”
Dan Xingyu: “Not yet. Have you?”
Qi Yu nodded. “I have—more than one, actually.”
“Maybe it’s because the magic sleigh is fast, so I’ve been able to reach farther places.” He gazed into the distance as the two of them continued flying in one direction. “I wonder if we’ll meet any other District 88 players today.”
Dan Xingyu: “If we do…”
His eyes sparkled. “Elf, want to play a game with me?”
Qi Yu: “What game?”
Dan Xingyu: “Let’s be philanthropists, shall we?”
Qi Yu: ?
Dan Xingyu: “If we run into other players, we’ll descend from the sky like heroes, silently help them kill monsters, then find the treasure, toss it to them coldly, and leave without a word.”
He said it with utter seriousness. “And by the next day, the whole of District 88 will be telling legends about us.”
